welcome to new york city!
we're not going to sit here and give you some mumble jumble about how this game is going to be different than other games. or how we're going to take roleplaying back to the way it used to be. because honestly? those things are up to the players. however. as mods, we can provide you with the means to make a game that you will love and enjoy playing at. that is our goal: to provide a stable, active environment for you to play in. activity is one of the most important parts of a game's survival and we are going to try and incorporate things such as scene partners, writing prompts, random acts of fate to keep things interesting. but ultimately, the success is up to you. we're just here to keep things in perspective.
which brings us to the rules. there's not going to be any cop outs here. we want a bio, survey, or detailed facts (at least 10) from you in order to apply to the game. we've noticed that people tend to flock to games that do not require this quicker than those that do and we're taking a risk by asking for one, but we also feel that sometimes people join games with no idea who their character is and just play it by ear. this can be problematic when something comes up about your character and then it's later forgotten about because it's not written down so something entirely different ends up coming into play. knowing a little about your character beforehand not only helps you, but also helps other players know if there's a connecting point for a possible line. that's not to say that characters don't change overtime because everyone does, but at least you have the starting point. so, yes. we do require a first entry as well as examples.
we mentioned that activity is one of the most important factors to the success of a game? the other? keeping in character and out of character as separate as they sound. ic drama is a fun and sometimes exciting thing. ooc drama? not so much. we've all seen what ooc pettiness can do to a game. please don't do it.
after acceptance into the game, you have 3 days to post in introduction before your pb becomes available for override. journas should be updated every 3 weeks. everyone should know what constitutes as an update by now but if you're not sure your character's post does, do not hesitate to ask in the drop box. we will not flat out remove a character before a scheduled removal date but if you miss your activity deadline, your pb can be overriden so please do take that into consideration when planning out when to update. extensions can be requested, just drop us a comment! also, this doesn't mean that you can just shell out an update every three weeks and not be active in the subcommunities or on aim. we will eventually notice. role hogging is not fun. if you want to keep your character in the game, play him/her. if you can't for long periods of time, say at least a week. request a hiatus. we don't bite, we swear.
